Sven Baertschi wants out of Vancouver; Joe Morrow is leaving New Jersey

14 décembre 2019
A couple of NHL players not named Taylor Hall could be on the move soon. According to Rick Dhaliwal of TSN and The Athletic, winger Sven Baertschi has requested a trade out of Vancouver. Baertschi, a former first-round draft pick (13th overall in 2011) has split time between the Canucks and Utica Comets of the AHL this season. In six games in Vancouver he has two assists.

Baertschi is on the second year of the three-year contract paying him $3.37 million per season. Given his previous performances, it may be tough for Vancouver to find a trading partner willing to take him at that price. His best season came in 2016-17 when he had 18 goals and 35 points.

Meanwhile, defenseman Joe Morrow has been placed on unconditional waivers by the New Jersey Devils for the purpose of terminating his contract. Morrow, 27, has spent the entire season with the Binghamton Devils of the AHL. He had signed a one-year, two-way deal with New jersey on October 6th. He has one goal and three assists in 16 AHL games this season. The decision to terminate his current contract was apparently a mutual one.
