Vancouver loses two key components; Boeser out long term

Joe De Falco   ·   18 février 2020
Following an awkward play into the boards on February 8th against Calgary, Canucks forward Brock Boeser was reportedly suffered a rib cartilage fracture and was expected to miss three weeks.

Boeser was re-evaluated this week and the results did not provide good news. The Canucks winger is expected to miss at least 8 weeks following the rib injury, as announced by Canucks General Manager Jim Benning.

“We said we were going to give an update in three weeks, but it looks like it’s going to be more severe than what we originally thought. It’s an eight-week injury. Looks like he could be done for the year so we wanted to make sure we did something to show our players, coaches, and fans we can compete here down the stretch” Benning commented on Boeser’s condition.

Benning also confirmed that forward Josh Leivo is done for the rest of the season with a fractured knee cap, but could return in time for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Boeser currently holds 45 points through 56 games with the Canucks. Leivo holds 19 points through 36.

With the Canucks currently sitting in playoff contention in the Pacific Division, they’ll prepare to face the final stretch of the season without two key components.
