Byfuglien contemplating NHL future

september 18, 2019
While there has been no official word from Dustin Byfuglien or the Winnipeg Jets regarding his personal leave of absence from the team, TSN's Bob McKenzie says the 34-year-old blueliner is taking some time to "ponder his NHL future."

Byfuglien is in the fourth year of a five-year contract with the Jets. Mckenzie says neither his agent or the Jets would respond to a request for comment.

Should Byfuglien decide that he's done playing hockey, his absence would leave a void on Winnipeg's blueline. Not only can he contribute offensively, Byfuglien is a big body that can throw huge hits and get under the opposing team's skin.
