Elliotte Friedman on Taylor Hall's pending UFA status

october 16, 2019
The New Jersey Devils have not gotten off to the start they had hoped for following an impressive off-season, beginning the season with an 0-4-2 record after their first six games.

Elliotte Friedman discussed Taylor Hall's future in his "31 Thoughts" column:

"There is no reason to believe, at this time, the Devils are weighing any other option other than signing Hall to a long-term extension. That is the plan; that is the hope; that is what the organization and his agent were discussing prior to the season."

"Hall has said that he loved being in the playoffs two years ago, and New Jersey knows that the best chance of making him happy is making him believe they can consistently get there."

Friedman also appeared on SportsNet's "Tim & Sid" show to discuss Hall's pending UFA status:

"New Jersey knows that if they aren't looking [close to a playoff team] it is unlikely that Hall re-signs.", Friedman also went on to say that it would not be a surprise if the Edmonton Oilers are a big suitor if he's made available.
