Night of firsts for the Habs at Bell Centre

october 17, 2019
Goalless, no more! It took 127 games over the span of 4 seasons, but Thursday evening, Canadiens Defensemen Victor Mete found the back of the net to record his first NHL goal. As to be expected, both his teammates on the bench and the fans inside Bell Centre exploded. Mete landed his first goal off a beautiful centering pass from behind the net, allowing the Habs to take a 1-0 lead over the Minnesota Wild.

The night of firsts would only continue from there. About 5 minutes later Nick Suzuki would also find the back of the net for the first time. Suzuki was drafted 13th overall in the 2017 draft by the Vegas Golden Knights, but was traded to the Montreal Canadiens, along with Tomas tatar in exchange for former captain, Max Pacioretty. The young center netted his first career goal off of a beautiful backhand rebound just in front of the crease. He did so in just his 7th NHL game.
