Hurricanes showing interest in Ho-Sang, Puljujarvi

october 17, 2019
The Carolina Hurricanes are in the market for a top-9 winger. According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, the Hurricanes have shown interest in Josh Ho-Sang, and Jesse Puljujarvi.

Ho-Sang and Puljujarvi are both forwards that are in desperate need of a change of scenery.

Josh Ho-Sang was a very talented junior player and was drafted 30th overall by the New York Islanders in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Ho-Sang hasn't been able to stick on the Islanders roster and recently requested a trade from New York following his assignment to Bridgeport. Ho-Sang has the talent, but his attitude seems to be what's keeping him from being a full time NHLer.

Puljujarvi was selected 4th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2016 entry draft, but could never find a permanent spot on the Oilers' roster. So far the Finnish forward has spent his career bouncing between the NHL and the AHL.

This off-season, Puljujarvi made it clear that he wanted out when he requested a trade out of Edmonton. He is currently playing for Karpat of SM-Liiga where he has 6 goals and 12 points in 12 games.

Puljujarvi signed a one year deal with Karpat that includes an out clause that will allow him to return to the NHL if he signs before Dec. 1. Oilers' GM, Ken Holland has made it clear that he will not force a trade for Puljujarvi and will wait for the right deal to come along.

These two players are both still very capable of competing in the NHL, and could be the acquisitions that Carolina needs to make another deep playoff run. Carolina is currently sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 6-2-0 record.
