Wild player injured after blocking a trio of Shea Weber one-timers

october 17, 2019
Joel Eriksson Ek had to be feeling great when the Minnesota Wild called his name with the 20th overall pick in the 2015 NHL draft. The young Swede is a steady two-way forward and has a bright future with the Wild.

Although he has not found himself on the score sheet on a regular basis, as evidenced by his 38 points in 154 games, his defensive game is excellent.

It doesn't get much scarier than blocking a Shea Weber clapper, but on Thursday, Eriksson Ek showed his bravery as he blocked, not one, not two, but THREE of Shea Weber's shots in one shift.

The unfortunate news for Eriksson Ek and the Wild is that the young Swede was spotted after the game with a walking boot on his left foot. There is no update on his status at this point.
