Historic performances for McDavid, Draisaitl as the Oilers beat Colorado 6-2 at home

15 novembre 2019
It will certainly be a night to remember for the Edmonton Oilers' dynamic duo, as Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl set new career highs for points in a game. The Oilers' stars were dominant in a 6-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night.

Connor McDavid scored 3 power play goals and registered 3 assists in the win. He now sits 2nd in NHL scoring with 37 points. He became the first Oiler to score 6 points in a game since Sam Gagner did it in 2012.

McDavid's hat trick was his second of this week, and sixth in the last four years. Only Alex Ovechkin (eight) and Patrik Laine (seven) have more in that span.

Meanwhile, Leon Draisaitl built on his lead in the NHL scoring race. He wasn't able to find the back of the net, but he had no troubles helping his teammates do so, as he recorded 5 assists. He now sits at 41 points on the season.

It took Draisaitl just 21 games to reach the 40-point mark, which is the fastest since Mario Lemieux reached the mark in 20 games in 2002-03.

McDavid and Draistaitl have now combined for 78 points this season, which is the most any duo so far.

Edmonton also received goals from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (2) and Zack Kassian (1). Mike Smith stood on his head in net as well, picking up 31 saves for his 6th win of the season.

Edmonton improved to 13-6-2 on the season and are now sitting first place in the Western Conference.
