T.J. Brodie's medical episode not linked to brain issue

15 novembre 2019
The Calgary Flames have issued a major update on defenseman T.J. Brodie's collapse to the ice yesterday and it sounds like good news so far.

"I don't think we have all the answers yet and we still have a few more tests to go but all the early indications are that it's very likely more related to a fainting episode than something significant and inside the brain," said Ian Auld, one of the doctors working on Brodie's case.

"He's feeling good. He's sore," said Flames GM Brad Treliving said. "All of the tests that have been done to date have come back negative. He's doing well ... we're not going to leave any stone unturned in terms of the tests that we go through."

Brodie collapsed during practice yesterday and started convulsing. Medical personnel were called into quick action, and Treliving says they did an excellent job.

"I can't thank the work of the medical team enough. You saw the best of the business in action, live and in colour. Kent Kobelka, Mike Gudmundson, Kevin Wagner, James Borelli, Ian (Auld) just went to work so thank you for them."

There is no set timetable for Brodie's return.

"We're going to go through the process of checking every box and make sure we administer every test. But he's come through everything thus far and doing well, feeling good. He's on the mend," said Treliving. "He will obviously not travel with us today as we head to Arizona and Las Vegas. He will stay under the supervision of our medical team led by Ian."
