Sean Avery ready to replace Jess Allen on The Social

15 novembre 2019
Perhaps the most controversial player ever to play in the NHL is ready to replace Jess Allen on CTV's The Social. According to Sean Avery, he was ready to go Friday morning.

While we're certain Avery was having a little fun with the latest controversy surrounding Allen, it's hard to imagine any day-time television talk show on a network giving the guy a live microphone. Avery isn't exactly known for being shy or for his political correctness. Still, it would certainly be interesting.

Allen has taken a lot of heat on social media for comments she made earlier this week while discussing Don Cherry's firing from Sportsnet. Allen said she doesn't "worship at the altar of hockey" and found in her experience that those who do "all tended to be white boys who weren't, let's say, very nice." She has since apologized for the comments, but stuck to saying they were based on her own personal experiences.

Tom Straschnitzki, the father of Ryan Straschnitzki who was paralyzed from the chest-down in the Humboldt bus crash, has stated the family will no longer do interviews with CTV until Allen is fired. CTV has issued its own apology for Allen's comments, but has given no indication that she would never be welcomed back on The Social.

For what it's worth, Avery also claimed he would double the ratings on Coach's Corner overnight shortly after Cherry was fired.
