Mario Kempe wants out of his contract with the LA Kings; Schneider clears waivers

19 novembre 2019
The LA Kings have placed forward Mario Kempe on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract. According to TSN's Pierre Lebrun, the 31-year old forward is planning to sign in the KHL.

Kempe has appeared in 16 games with the AHL's Ontario Reign this season, putting up three goals and 11 points. He has not appeared in any games with the Kings. The Swede has played in the KHL before, spending three seasons with Vityaz Podolsk from 2014 to 2017. While drafted by Philadelphia in 2007, he never played for the team. Kempe has 70 games of NHL experience, all of them with Arizona.

Meanwhile, Cory Schneider of the New Jersey Devils has cleared waivers without anyone picking up his $6 million per year contract that goes until the end of the 2021-22 season. He will report to Binghamton of the AHL. Schneider's stats this year are terrible, going 0-4-1 in six starts, with a 4.59 GAA and a .852 save percentage.
